My name is Dina Mann. I began my career as a professional dancer and cymusician, After an extensive career, the theatrical union offered financial and vocational guidance to performers wanting to enter the helping professions. I jumped right in and with their assistance, I was able to go back to complete my undergraduate, graduate and post graduate degrees in chaplaincy, substance abuse certification, pastoral counseling. I worked for a number of years as a chaplain with patients and families affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. I was active in the AIDS Walk NY fundraising and Broadway Cares Equity fights AIDS. Many of my clients were active drug abusers, triply diagnosed, lived with domestic violence and were often homeless. The population dealt with all ages, races and nationalities, many of whom sought asylum in the US for treatment or because of their sexual orientation..I began to wear out after a good number of years and then decided to work in the field of mental health counseling. In addition, I was a first responder in the immmediate months following the 9/11 attack. I assisted survivors in retreaving DNA samples of their lost loved ones. After my mother died a few years ago, my journey of acute grief steered me in the direction of grief counsenling. I chose Pet Bereavement because of the acute and unique grief I observed in people who had lost their pets and thus I delved into a certification program in Pet Loss and Bereavement and was certified.as a Pet Bereavement Counselor. I am curretly completing an advanced certification in human Grief Counseling and will be certified in the next few months in this discipline as well. I look forward to walking with meanwhile in your journey with pet loss and assisting you in regaining your joy and and emotional stability.
